GW3 Differential Picks: Three Names Still Flying Under the Radar

The template picks get covered everywhere. What actually moves a mini-league table is finding the players still sitting under 10% ownership with a genuine route to points this week. Three names fit that bill for Gameweek 3, none of them premium, all of them nailed.

Low ownership on its own means nothing. A differential needs a fixture, a role, and minutes, in that order.

Anthony Elanga (Newcastle, home vs Bournemouth)

Elanga has scored in both of Newcastle’s opening matches and looks revitalised under Matthias Jaissle, which is exactly the kind of early-season role change the ownership numbers haven’t caught up with yet. Newcastle host Bournemouth this week before a run through Leeds and Hull, giving him three straight fixtures worth targeting rather than a single-week punt. At £6.1m he’s already started moving in price, but he’s still well clear of template ownership.

Pascal Groß (Brentford, home vs Sunderland)

Groß is on set pieces, possibly penalties, and has played every minute so far. Brentford at home to Sunderland is a fixture worth attacking rather than surviving, and a midfielder on dead-ball duty with a nailed role is the exact profile that quietly outperforms flashier, more owned picks over a run of games. Nothing glamorous here, just a repeatable route to returns.

Roméo Lavia (Chelsea, away at Arsenal)

Lavia opened the scoring against Brighton in Gameweek 2 and has started both of Chelsea’s matches under Xabi Alonso, at a position and price point, £5.0m, where nobody expects consistent goal returns. The appeal is the defensive-contribution floor: a nailed, minutes-secure midfield destroyer picks up DefCon points most weeks regardless of the scoreline. Arsenal away is a step up in difficulty from Brighton at home, so treat this as a squad-value differential rather than a captaincy shout, but the role itself isn’t going anywhere.
