GW5 Differential Picks: Two Full Backs and a Penalty Taker Nobody OwnS

The template picks get covered everywhere. What actually moves a mini-league table is finding the players still sitting under 10% ownership with a genuine route to points this week. Three names fit that bill for Gameweek 5, and unlike recent weeks, none of them are a straightforward third defender: this time it’s a forward inheriting a job nobody expected him to get, and two attacking full backs facing the division’s leakiest defences.

Low ownership on its own means nothing. A differential needs a fixture, a role, and minutes, in that order.

Thierno Barry (Everton, home vs Ipswich Town)

Barry has inherited penalty duties following Iliman Ndiaye’s exit, turning a squad forward into a genuine budget enabler overnight. Everton have put together back-to-back goalless draws, which reads badly on the surface but means a settled attack has simply been waiting for a fixture soft enough to convert chances into goals. Ipswich, still without a win and shipping heavily on the road, are that fixture. A newly-installed penalty taker at a club still building attacking output is exactly the gap ownership numbers haven’t caught up to yet.

Jayden Bogle (Leeds United, home vs Crystal Palace)

Bogle scored twice in Leeds’ 4-1 demolition of Newcastle, pushing on from right back in a system that keeps sending him forward. Crystal Palace have conceded nine goals across their last three matches, including three at home to newly-promoted Ipswich, and now travel to a Leeds side that just put four past a top-half opponent. An attacking full back this involved in the build-up, against a defence leaking at this rate, is the kind of fixture-role combination a promoted side’s low ownership hasn’t priced in.

Tino Livramento (Newcastle United, home vs Hull City)

Newcastle’s run opens up here: Hull at home this week, then Coventry and Aston Villa once Gameweek 6 arrives after the international break. Livramento offers the same nailed-starter, forward-thinking full back profile as the two names above at a club with a first-choice defence that’s conceded only five all season. Hull have been stubborn away from home rather than porous, but Newcastle’s underlying attacking numbers make a clean sheet with an attacking return attached a realistic outcome, and Livramento’s ownership hasn’t moved to reflect a run of fixtures this favourable.
