GW4 Transfer Suggestions: Isak’s Case Is Made, Konsa Is Criminally Cheap

The best transfer this week isn’t always the player at the top of last week’s scoring table. It’s the player whose role just changed.

Bring In: Alexander Isak (Liverpool, £9.1m)

Isak’s brace at Ipswich has already pushed his price up, and he’s scored in every match he’s started this season. Fulham at home this week and Bournemouth away next are both winnable fixtures before the schedule toughens, and the Gakpo-Isak combination looks like the one Andoni Iraola is building his attack around. He’s not cheap, but he’s the clearest “nailed and in-form” forward buy in the game right now.

Bring In: Ezri Konsa (Arsenal, £4.4m)

Konsa’s emergency start against Chelsea, with both Saliba and Mosquera unavailable, went well enough that Mikel Arteta looks set to keep him in the side regardless of who else returns to fitness. Arsenal have conceded just 0.89 expected goals through three matches, the tightest defensive record in the league, and £4.4m for a starting Arsenal centre-back is a price point that shouldn’t exist. Straightforward buy while it lasts.

Buy Low: Victor Munoz (Liverpool)

Munoz has been consistently impressive on the right through Liverpool’s opening matches without any of the attention Gakpo, Isak or Barcola have attracted, and his price hasn’t caught up to his role yet. With Gakpo a fitness doubt for the Fulham game and Liverpool’s forward line getting more crowded by the week, Munoz is the name with the most room to run under the radar before ownership catches on.

Consider Moving On

Bruno Fernandes hit the woodwork twice against Everton but still has no goal from open play this season, and hosting a Manchester City side that’s scored in every match is a tough spot to end that run. Not an emergency sale, but not a hill to defend either if a transfer is needed elsewhere this week. Any Leeds defender remains a hold-and-wait situation with Joe Rodon still out for another six to eight weeks. Crystal Palace’s forward options are also worth watching closely: Wharton, Nketiah and Sarr all picked up knocks last time out, leaving the position thin for at least this week.

Budget Watch: Hull’s Backline Meets Its Hardest Test

Nobel Mendy and Semi Ajayi, both £4.0m, have quietly delivered two clean sheets from three matches. That run has made them a popular budget enabler, but Gameweek 4 sends Hull to Chelsea, comfortably the toughest fixture they’ve faced so far and one of the biggest favourites on the entire card. This is the week to hold rather than add, and existing owners shouldn’t be surprised if the clean sheet run ends here.
